Sunday evening marked the anual Blue & Gold Awards Ceremony honouring the Crandall Chargers student athletes.
The Christian Leadership Award is awarded to an athlete who has made a positive impact on the team through their christian faith and lifestyle. They have demonstrated christian character, have a high level of integrity and dependability and have fostered a positive with coaches and fellow athletes.
The Coaches Award is awarded to an athlete who best demonstrates the true spirit of Chargers Athletics. It is given not only for hard work and personal improvment, but for a willingness to understand, learn, and exhibit a partnership with coaches and teammates. This athlete can be selected for offensive or deffensive play, teamwork, and attitude or for being an integral part of the team whether on the bench or in game action.
The Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is given to the athlete that shows leadership skills and and may have great technical skills as well, but this award focuses primarily on the ability to create team spirit, cohesion and solid communication to keep their team together throughout the season. There is a lot of responsibility in keeping a team together and leading by example on and off the field of play. Players that recieve this award show their leadership qualities in wins and losses and in their attitude. They remain strong, determined, positive, and focused.
The Athlete of the Year Award is given to the athelete that brings that "extra something" to their game. Usually awarded for outstanding skills performance, it can be awarded for other reasons as well. Sum up all of our awards and you get the Athlete of the Year. To recieve the Athlete of the Year Award, you have to bring all you can to your performance and inspire others to win. You must be pursuant in your goals and encourage your teammates to follow you. You must demonstrate your commitment to your sport, pride in your team, and represent the university with excellence, pride, and class.
The Seth Crowell Award is recogniction of excellence in academics. This Athlete has combined their strong academic with their love of sport. They have also shown strong leadership skills and a positive relationship with coaches, teammates, and the Crandall Community.
