Women's volleyball starts 2025 with win against Chargers
(Saint John, NB) The first set was tightly contested, with both teams tied at 13. There were numerous missed serves from both sides. Kate MacLeod, the leading attacker for the Seawolves in the first set, delivered three quick kills without any errors, energizing the Seawolves to initiate their first run of the game. They won the first set 25-23.
To start the second set, the Seawolves maintained their attack, opening with a 15-8 lead thanks to a three-headed attack featuring Kate MacLeod, Sydney Flower, and Emily Robichaud. Meanwhile, Charlie Benoit led the way for the Chargers. Despite the Seawolves' serving struggles, they managed to close out the second set with authority, winning 25-19, even with a late push from Crandall.
In the third set, Crandall had a strong start, taking an early lead. However, quick reactions from the Seawolves allowed them to bounce back and gain control. At the halfway mark, they were up 15-10, and the Seawolves closed out the game strongly, winning 25-15. Crandall's record moves to 3-7, while UNBSJ improves to 10-1. Saint John is set to play Mount Allison University tomorrow in a fight for first place in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association, and Crandall will be taking on University of Kings College.
