(Saint John, NB) The Seawolves women's basketball team picked up a 66-41 victory over the Crandall University Chargers to end the fall semester Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season play.
The Seawolves set the tone early, jumping to an 18-9 lead by the end of the first quarter. With strong defensive play and scoring the Seawolves led the Chargers at half 37-20. Key players included Avrey Alward, who had 21 points, and Ellie Collins, who had a strong presence under the basket with 11 rebounds.
In the third quarter, the Chargers gained momentum, matching the Seawolves' intensity. Crandall was led by Lauren Lilly, who scored 8 points. Despite their efforts in the last two quarters the Chargers were unable to close the gap with Seawolves winning 66 –41.
This win improves UNBSJ's record to 1-7 to start off the 2024-25 season.
