Seawolves take Chargers 3-0
(Saint John, NB) The boys, looking to build on the success the girls had earlier in the night, started off with a back-and-forth set against Crandall. Neither team ever held more than a 3-point lead. However, UNBSJ was up 23-20 late in the set. A surge from Crandall tied the game at 26, but UNBSJ eventually took the first set after extended points, finishing at 30-28.
UNBSJ came out strong in the second set, with some beautiful sets from Liam McLellan to William Siefker. They started with a 10-5 lead and extended it to 18-12 at their peak. However, after a timeout from Crandall and a serving run, Crandall fought back to a 22-21 lead. Despite this, UNBSJ secured the win after a huge serve from number 5, Dave, to close the set 27-25.
Set three continued the back-and-forth battle between the two schools. After a few hitting errors on each side and a huge third set performance from Adam Gauthier, including 5 kills, the Seawolves found themselves with a 14-11 lead. They extended it through two timeouts to win the set 25-17, earning a deserved victory in three sets. This win keeps UNBSJ in the top 4, sitting at 5-6, as they aim for a .500 season. Crandall, dropping to 2-8, will return tomorrow for round two of this heated battle.
