Tommies Clinched 1st place in the ACAA Conference Regular Season

Fredericton, NB – The St. Thomas University Tommies clinched 1st place in the ACAA Conference regular season as they defeated the Crandall University Chargers 11-0 on Saturday afternoon.

"Great work by the boys. I like that we raised the standard today and it's a good feeling and those were one of our main goals this year: to go undefeated and to get 1st place so it's good when you accomplish those goals," STU coach, John-Ryan Morrison, said after the match.

The Tommies were relentless in the first half and cruised to a 5-0 lead at halftime. A hat trick from Josh Oakes (Kitchener, ON) and two more from William Benoit (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC) put the Tommies ahead. This was Oakes's second hat trick in consecutive games. Morrison spoke about his captain's performance after the game.

"He's our captain, he's our leader and it's a great season for him and I certainly hope he does get player of the year."

The second half saw goals added by Jason Scott (Narol, MB), Chi Nkoloagu (Burnaby, BC), Lucas Joel (Courtice, ON) who scored twice, and Benoit who scored twice more to finish the game with four goals.

"I think that's nine this year which is great for him. That's the most in his STU career so we're firing on all cylinders heading into the playoffs," Morrison added.
