
Mounties Use Strong Bench Performance to Beat Crandall
The Mount Allison Mounties women's team basketball team returned to the McCormack Gymnasium Sunday afternoon for their second game in as many days against the Crandall Chargers.
Amelia Mitchell would get off to a hot start for Mount Allison with 8 points in the first quarter as the Mounties led 17-6 after one.
16 of the Mounties' 20 second-quarter points came from the bench led by Sarah Mallard with 6. The home side would continue to increase their advantage, heading into the halftime break ahead 37-11.
The Mounties would once again be led by Amelia Mitchell in the third quarter with 6 points and 4 rebounds out of the break. Tarvinder Kaur would begin to knock down shots for the Chargers, however they would be trailing 53-20 at the end of the third.
Despite 8 further points from Kaur in the fourth, it would be another 17 bench points from the Mountie bench including 4 from Kaitlyn Simard would be enough to put this game away, as the home side came away victorious 74-34.
Mount Allison (6-2) will be back in action on Sunday, December 1st for their final game of the semester against Mount Saint Vincent with tip-off set for 1:00pm. Crandall (0-7) finish the term against UNB Saint John on Saturday, November 30th in Saint John with tip-off set for 2:00pm.
