Mystics top Chargers 10-0
Kayley Clair and Emma Bowser each tallied two goals in the Mystics 10-0 defeat of the Crandall Chargers Sunday afternoon in Halifax.
The Mystics controlled the play from the beginning of the match with Sacha Clark getting two chances out front early on the first half on a passes from Mhyah Allen, but couldn't find the back of the net. Ashley Neves had a chance just outside the 18 yard box, but she sent her long shot over the net around the 17th minute. Lauren Seamone had the Mystics next chance but Crandall keeper Priyanka Rajput handled the shot with ease.
Emma Farrell had the next chance for the Mount with some fancy footwork, but her shot went wide.
Seamone finally opened the scoring on a free kick she sent high over Rajput's head to put the Mystics up 1-0.
Farrell added another tally for the Mystics four minutes later to increase the Mount's lead to two. Kayley Clair got her first of the game just two minutes later giving the Mystics a 3-0 lead.
Crandall made several runs up the wings to try to score but the Mount's defence thrwarted all of their advances.
Allen scored in the 35th minute on a penalty kick to put the score at 4-0. Seamone sent a pass up to Farrell who had a quick touch to Annabelle Lendrum-Harnish in the dying seconds of extra time to head into the second half with a 5-0 advantage.
The Mount came out flying in the second, quickly moving the ball up the field to give Neves another scoring chance within the first 30 seconds of the half but was unable to find the back of the net.
Chargers keeper Rajput came up big for Crandall making back-to-back saves from inside the six yard box, but was unable to make another a short time later when Megan Gillis capitalized on a rebound to go up 6-0.
Just one minute later, Emma Bowser found herself on a breakawayin the 58th minute to score the Mystics seventh-straight goal.
Clair tallied her second goal of the afternoon just three minutes later, followed by a goal from Beth Padfield who headed the ball in on a corner kick from Farrell.
The Mystics 10th and final goal came from Bowser (her second) in the 84th minute with some fancy footwork in close.
Morgan Gillis earned the shutout in the 10-0 win.
The Mystics is back in action Saturday, September 21 when they head to truro to take on DAL AC.
