Chargers Fall to Mounties

MONCTON, NB - The Mount Allison Mounties proved too much for the Crandall Chargers to handle, winning the match 79-50.

Crandall more than held their own in the opening frame, trailing by a single point after 10 minutes. The Mounties would go on to shut down the Chargers holding the home team to only 4 points in the second quarter. The gap created by the Mounties was enough to throw the Chargers off their game plan of scoring in the paint and attempting to close the deficit quickly by attempting 3-point shots, converting on 2-14 from beyond the arc for a 15.4 shooting percentage.

Kelsey Alward led the Chargers in scoring with 15 points, while also leading in rebounds with 8 and getting her hands up for 4 blocks.

Kaitlyn Simard was the scoring leader for Mount Allison, accounting for 24 points shooting 50% from beyond the arc.

With an 0-14 record the Chargers are not yet eliminated from the playoff picture. With four games remaining and trailing UNBSJ  by 6 points, Crandall will need to win out to control their fate.

Crandall's next game will be against UKC, on Friday evening. The last meeting of the two teams was a three-point difference needing overtime to settle with the Blue Devils coming out victorious.
