Women’s Soccer locks down provincial talent, Kayla Matchett

MONCTON, - Crandall Women's Soccer team has signed provincial talent, Kayla Matchett (Miramichi, NB).

 

Playing an attacking midfielder position Matchett comes to Crandall after graduating from Miramichi Valley Highschool where she was the 2022 Female Athlete of the Year and MVP for her soccer and hockey team.

 

As mentioned Matchett has been participating as a member of Soccer New Brunswick since the age of eleven and has been named to represent Team New Brunswick. She also, won the U-18 Provincial Championship in 2021 with her club team, Miramichi United Soccer Club. 

 

"[Kayla is a] technically strong attacking midfielder…[She is a] first tier recruit that will add more skill & passing to our Midfield and forward lines." Said Women's Soccer Head Coach, Kevin Talbot when asked about his recruit.

 

Kayla is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science program at Crandall University and will begin her studies in Moncton in September.
