MONCTON, NB - The UNBSJ Seawolves spoiled the Chargers league debut defeating the Chargers 3-0 (25-17, 25-9, 25-23) on Friday evening.
The Chargers are officially part of the ACAA and quickly see the work still ahead of this young team to become a competitive program. After dropping the first two sets, Crandall made adjustments and would not roll over easily, fighting in the third set but fell just shy of forcing a fourth set.
Shane Huggard went 6-6 attacking to lead the Chargers in kills. Jack Hillier would go on to the team in points with 5.5, recording a trio of kills, two service aces and a blocking assist.
William Siefker was the go-to option for UNBSJ as he nearly doubled the nearest attack attempts leader with 20, 12 of which he converted into points. Siefker also tallied a trio of service aces to lead the Seawolves in total points with 15.
Liam McLellan put together a great game for the Seawolves as he recorded 24 assists and defensively picked up 5 digs.
With nowhere to go but up the Chargers will look to build on their performance as they host the STU Tommies Saturday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
