Chargers Get First Win In Program History, Defeat Seawolves 3-2

MONCTON, NB - Chargers Get First Win In Program History, Defeat Seawolves 3-2 

Crandall Chargers Men's Volleyball recorded their first win in program history Sunday afternoon, edging out the UNBSJ Seawolves in a 3-2 showdown.

After turning the Seawolves service over the Crandall Chargers opened the first set of the match with a 9 point run with Shane Huggard at the service line. Crandall took that momentum to steal the first set by 9 points. UNBSJ would make their adjustments and dominate the second set, holding Crandall to just 11 points before taking the lead after claiming a close third set. At this point of the match the gym was rocking and the bleachers were shaking with crowd enthusiasm, Crandall would take that energy and win the remaining two sets to get their first program win in just 6 league matches.

Colby Rhese led the Chargers scoring with a combined 17 points, with a team high 13 kills.

James Jeffrey put together his best performance in the blue and gold in his second start of the season. Jeffrey had 8 kills on the match and a trio of service aces. 

Chargers Middles Noah MacDonald and Liam Rafferty each had 4 service aces. MacDonald would also add 2 solo and 4 blocking assists. Sam Tingley would also get involved at the net blocking for the Chargers recording a solo and a blocking assist while also accounting for all 39 Crandall assists. 

Adam Gauthier was the team leader in kills and points for the Seawolves with 17 kills, a service ace, 2 solo blocks and 2 blocking assists. 

Crandall will cap the first half of their season next Saturday, December 2 on the road against Holland College. It will be the second meeting of the two teams, the Hurricanes winning the first matchup 3-1.
