UKC Tops Chargers 60-45

MONCTON, NB - University of King's College (UKC) Blue Devils handed the Crandall Chargers their first home loss of 2023, Blue Devils took the victory 60-45.

 

Crandall took the lead early, edging UKC by a point at the end of the first quarter. The Blue Devils ultimately found their rhythm and ran away with the game racking up 27 points in the third frame. The Chargers would go on to rally and shut down UKC only allowing a single point to be scored on them in the final frame.

 

Both teams struggled to hold on to the ball during the contest with a total of 54 turnovers between the two teams. UKC however would capitalize, turning 30 Chargers turnovers into 24 points going their way.

 

Chargers team leader in scoring and rebounds Alexa Rancourt exited early in the match after coming down awkwardly tangled up with a Blue Devils defender.

 

Mattea Hansen (Fredericton, NB) led the Chargers in scoring going 5-of-8 from the field for 11 points. Just on Hansen's heels was Kassidy Hamilton (Derby Junction, NB) with 10 points while also leading the team with 8 total rebounds.

 

Olivia Moreau led the Blue Devils with 17 total points going 7-of-13 from the field. UKC had a trio of players each getting 10 boards: Jenna Bain, Vayda Wells-McCaughen and Nalini Mahraj.

 

The Chargers are on the road tomorrow afternoon as they head to Fredericton to face off against the STU Tommies. The two teams have already met twice this year with STU defeating the Chargers.
