MONCTON, NB - MSVU Stun Chargers 77-66

The Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics spoiled the Crandall Chargers home-opener on Sunday afternoon.

The matchup could not have been any closer over the first three quarters. MSVU had a two point lead with 10 minutes left on the clock and outscored Crandall 19-10 in the final frame to close out the game.

In a game with 47 total fouls called, both coaches had to juggle the minutes of their top players. Just two minutes into the game Chargers starter Mark Hoffer was handed a pair of personal fouls and again got called again early at the start of the second half. Hoffer would eventually foul out of the game midway through the fourth quarter and was held to 10 points on the night.

Sacha Gauthier had a physical night as he made his way to the free-throw line a staggering 14 times, converting on 9 en route to being the Chargers scoring leader with 14 points.

Gabriel Cormier led Crandall with 12 rebounds splitting evenly between defensive and offensive while also being the team assist leader with 4.

Jaxon Smith scored 16 points for the Mystics with a pair of 3's and going 2-3 from the line to lead his team in scoring.

Chase Tynes and Jadan Smith each had 15 points on the night for MSVU with Tynes going up to snag 17 rebounds.

Crandall are 1-1 on the season and will have a week to recuperate and game plan for the 1-3 UNBSJ Seawolves, whom they will play on the road on next Sunday.
