Tommies Win 101-92 Over Chargers

MONCTON, NB - STU Tommies Defeat Crandall Chargers Men's Basketball 101-92 in first game back since the winter break.

 

The Tommies jumped out to an early lead in the Friday night matchup, going up 13-4 in the opening minutes. STU were able to control the play after their early lead and would go on to capitalize on a slow third quarter by the Chargers.

 

Gabriel Cormier had to fight his way through a tough STU defense to lead the Chargers scoring with 17 points on the night. Cormier went 7-15 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from the foul line.

 

Tyray Cooper and Marc Hofer would each contribute 14 points scoring for Crandall.

 

Geoffrey Lavoie scored 28 points for the Tommies shooting 11-16 from the field and 4-9 from the free-throw line. Noah McCarthy was right behind his teammate adding on a total of 21 points scored for STU.

 

The Chargers currently hold a 5-2 record and sit 3rd in the ACAA standings. The team will host the fourth placed, 4-6 Holland College on Sunday afternoon. The previous meeting saw Crandall winning 84-65.
