Mounties Upset Chargers

MONCTON, NB - The Mount Allison Mounties upset the Crandall Chargers 75-65 on Sunday afternoon.

The Mounties opened up the game with a 12-4 run and though the Chargers would close that gap the Mounties would end each of the first three quarters with a 6-point lead.

Mount Allison's Tim Ellison was a matchup nightmare for the Chargers, trying to contain the 6'10" forward. Ellison would go on as a co-leader in scoring for the Mounties with 16 points, a title shared with teammate Gayo Isaya.

Marc Hofer and Tyray Cooper each recorded double-doubles for the Chargers with Hofer recording 17 points and 11 rebounds and Cooper having 19 points and 10 boards.

The Chargers hold an 8-6 record and have already secured their ticket to the playoffs but will compete to try to get the second seed and earn a bye in the opening round.

With four games remaining the Chargers will turn their focus to the 0-12 UKC Blue Devils as the two teams will face off on Friday evening in Moncton. The Chargers have won their two previous matches against UKC earlier this season.

With the cancelation of several games this weekend due to inclement weather it is likely that some changes will be made to accommodate the rescheduling of makeup games. Follow along at the Chargers Website and Instagram for any updates.
