In his young coaching career, Alex has coached many competitive travelling teams in the Thunder Bay area and many competitive travelling teams in the Greater Moncton area. For the past three years Alex has been involved in the coaching and development of male and female athletes from U Sports and ACAA Basketball throughout New Brunswick though the Sweat Academy program. As a player, Alex has distinguished himself at Lakehead University by being named three times defensive player of the year and by being team captain during his last three years. During his Lakehead basketball career, Alex has achieved an OUA champion and a silver medal at the U Sport National Championships.
