Seawolves Too Much for Chargers, Claim 3-1 Victory.

MONCTON, NB -  UNBSJ Seawolves came out victorious Saturday afternoon, defeating the Crandall Chargers 3-1 (17-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-19).

 

Crandall came out and stole the first but the Seawolves were able to make the adjustments to take the next three sets and the win. The match saw both teams trade the lead back and forth while showcasing several multi-phase rallies.

 

UNBSJ was able to limit the Chargers' Kills by continuously getting their hands on hits and the back line cleaning up digs and rallying to find the tough second touches. Sydney Flower led the Seawolves with 4 solo and 4 blocking assists while also accounting for 7 kills and a pair of assists.

 

Emily Robichaud was the clear go-to option for the Seawolves, recording 18 kills on 34 total swings. Robichaud also accounted for a pair of service aces and tied teammate Dominique Gendron with 7 digs.

 

Janelle Blanchette led the Chargers with 12.5 points, recording 9 kills on 33 swings and going up for 5 blocking assists. 

 

Sarah-Maude Malenfant tied her personal season high of kill attempts with 32 but was only able to come away with a trio of kills as the Seawolves were ready for nearly every one of her cross-court hits and managed to get underneath the roll shots.

 

Chargers Middle, Briana Rancourt set a new personal record by going up for 6 blocking assists.

 

Crandall's record on the season now rests at 1-7 as the Chargers will look to gain momentum on Sunday afternoon, hosting STU for their final game of 2022, before heading into the semester break.
