MONCTON, NB - STU edged out Chargers in a 5-set thriller (25-21, 25-15, 12-25, 14-25, 15-12).
The STU Tommies took the first two sets followed by the Chargers taking full control of the third and fourth sets. Chargers took a one-point lease into the court change in the deciding frame but a late push by STU proved too much for Crandall.
Melora Cook and Janelle Blanchette each recorded 14 kills to lead the Chargers. Blanchette added 7 service aces and a pair of blocking assists for a total of 22 points.
Amy LeBlang was all over the court as the Libero recorded a team-high 30 digs.
Kathleen Boyle led STU in several statistics including 12 kills on 41 attempts and 15 digs.
Kallie Woodworth and Emma Visser made their debut in the Blue & Gold with Woodworth getting an extended look and making a case to earn more playing time recording 6 kills and 5 digs.
The Crandall Chargers are now even on the season and will look to bounce back against the USTA Dragons next weekend.
