Blanchette’s 23 Points Lead to Chargers Sweep Over Sainte-Anne.

MONCTON, NB - Crandall Chargers Women's Volleyball record their first sweep in program history, taking care of the Université Sainte-Anne Dragons 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-13) on Sunday evening. The Chargers were firing on all cylinders in front of the largest home crowd this season, courtesy of the CSA Sea of Blue event.

Starting with an improved passing game where the Chargers rarely had to chase down a second touch heading far out of bounds, Amy LeBlang (New Scotland, AUS) was able to set her hitters to a tune of 21 assists on the night.

Janelle Blanchette (Cap Pele, NB) was nearly unstoppable at the net recording 17 Kills on 39 swings including multiple tipped balls to counter the Dragons' over-commitment to the block. Blanchette is now only 9 kills behind Emily Rocbichaud of UNBSJ and closing the gap to take the title of the league leader in kills

Sarah-Maude Malenfant (Dieppe, NB) was making plays all over the court during the match tallying 16 Digs, 13 Receptions and 10 Kills.

Mekeyla Leger was the stand-out player for the Dragons, recording 6 Kills and a Blocking Assist. Jacqueline Bright led the Dragons with 10 Assists while also accounting for 7 Digs.

After playing three games this week the Chargers will have a well-deserved week to recover and get ready for Holland College on Sunday evening. The last time the two teams met, the Hurricanes walked away with a 3-1 win.
