Hurricanes Blow Away Chargers 3-0

MONCTON, NB - The Holland Hurricanes stormed into Crandall University Sunday evening to sweep the Chargers 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-23).

The Chargers came out in a new lineup to open the first set, shifting Sarah-Maude Malenfant (Dieppe, NB) into the libero role and starting Hannah Druart, (Felton, DE) in her place.

After dropping the first two sets the Chargers made more adjustments returning to the opening season lineup of Amy LeBlang (New Scotland, AUS) to libero and Zoe Fournier (Dieppe, NB) to setter. The shift brought a spark back to Crandall as they opened up on an 8-0 run, though the lead was ultimately not enough.

Janelle Blanchette (Cap-Pele, NB) was the go-to option for the Chargers with nearly three times the amount of attacks than anyone else on the team, converting 12 swings into kills. Blanchette went on to also lead the Chargers picking up 11 digs in the contest.

Morgan White led the Hurricanes with 8 kills, 4 aces, one solo block and one blocking assist for a team-high total of 13.5 points. Ella Hickey recorded 26 of 28 total assists for Holland.

Crandall has a mid-week matchup at Mount Allison University this coming Wednesday, Feb. 1 and will look to turn things around before hosting the MSVU Mystics Saturday afternoon.
