Luke Purdy Commits to Chargers Cross Country

MONCTON, NB - The Riverview native Luke Purdy has committed to joining the Crandall University Cross Country for the 2023 season.

A current student of Riverview High and member of the Athlétisme Sud-Est / South-East Athletics (ASEA) Purdy will feel right at home at Crandall under Head Coach Brandon Leblanc as the two have previously worked together with the ASEA.

I've had the pleasure to work with Luke both at ASEA and as part of the U18 provincial team, and have seen tremendous growth in him over this past year," said Head Coach Brandon LeBlanc. "Through both his performance capabilities and leadership skills, I believe Luke will play a strong role in our men's team defending their conference banner and climbing the rankings nationally, and I look forward to welcoming him to Crandall in 2023

Purdy is no stranger to a winning culture, just look at the recent success he has accomplished: Won silver in the senior boy's race at the 2022 NBIAA Cross Country Championships. Member of Team New Brunswick for the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships, placing 25th in the U18 boy's 3000m. Top New Brunswick finisher in the U18 boy's race at the 2022 Canadian Cross Country Championships

"I choose Crandall because it offers all the educational programs I am looking for to complete my post-secondary studies while staying close to home." Said Purdy on his commitment to the program. "Due to Crandall being a smaller university, I feel that it offers a warm family feel along with a strong athletic program."

Purdy will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program at Crandall University focusing his Major in Kinesiology and is set to begin in September 2023.
